Why The Amendment Needed for Medical Termination Of Pregnancy Act, 1971

Abortion is known by every Indian, but fewer people know about the act known as MTPA (Medical Termination Of Pregnancy Act, 1971). MTPA does not gives the permission of abortion of fetus after 20th week. but recently the supreme court of India gives the permission of abortion after 26 week to a woman from kolkata, whose child was facing pulmonary Atresia which was the condition lead to danger of life to both mother and child, which again opens the door for the amendment in MTPA 1971.

So  why Amendment are required?

  1. Fetus Related Condition – study of a fetus parts are impossible until 18 week if the child is not normal medically, and 2 week time is not enough to take any decision for parents. doctors are also not able to give any advice in this short time to  the couple. (Birth defects in India: Hidden truth, need for urgent attention)
  2. Finances –  if  the financial situation of that family is not right ,then they are unable to care that child for whole life. In this situation the NGO and gov. can take a step to provide support to family.
  3. Gender Rights – In the country like India where gender equality is not very good (ranking 131) where women are fighting to celebrate her basic rights. it is also an important issue she want child or not , no one see it as her right or the decision which is related with her Bodily integrity, Self Respect , Privacy and Health
  4. In legal Abortion – due to all above cause the illegal way of abortion take place in the presence of non trained people, which can cause the death of both mother and child.
  5. Illegal abortion also take place because family feel shame if the Pregnancy is the result of Rape, but the abortion can take place in legal way according to the Draft Medical Termination of Pregnancy (Amendment) Bill, 2014.

Importance of Swadeshi Movement.

Swadeshi  Movement was the movement of disdaining/boycotting of Western Thoughts, English Education System , Job, School , Clothes and Titles. It was also the movement of re-accepting and Rethinking of local and nationalist ideas and indigenous goods. But it all started from great Bengal divide.

So What Is The Bengal Divide ?

All this things started from Bengal which was a big Indian state & govern and managed by the British. a famous Indian  Leader Gopal Krishna Gokhle once said about the Bengal and Bengali people –

”what Bengal thinks today, India thinks tomorrow.”

                                                                                                                          –  Gopal K Gokhle

this is true in this accept that the centre of nationalist thinking and  progressive nationalism, Bengal was playing its role by  literature ,knowledge and its people. the root cause behind it that the Bengal was the centre of all the nationalist thoughts where from congress (INC) was managed and operated in all over the India. So British was decided to divide the Bengal ,which have a lot of means because they are dividing Bengal by  telling that it is a big state for govern, but they actually want to divide the growing nationalist movement .

They want to divide the Bengal in Hindi-Oriya speaking Bengal like Bihar and Orissa. and they also want to divide of the basis of religion by encouraging the Muslim Fundamentalism. so that Bengal partition was a well-formed and a well decorated plan.

so in 1903 people was informed about the partition of Bengal, people start reacting against it & from 1903 to mid 1905 a lot of big public gathering , public speaking and public debate happened, during this all the press release happened was against the government.

In 19 July 1905 government announced for the Bengal divide. and then every one realised that nothing will happen by giving petition and applications so they decided to take a new path of boycott movement which was all about boycotting the foreign goods and making the movement more successful . in august 1905 a boycott resolution was passed in Calcutta which was extremely important.

from 16 Oct 1905 , the day when Bengal divide became effective , people decided to make it as a black day and a lot of strike happen in all over the country and in Calcutta also. people started collecting money for making the movement more strong because they was not accepting the great divide and that was the cause why Bengal was restructured in 1911.  from 1905 the movement of boycotting the foreign goods like clothes from Manchester and salt from Liverpool boycotted and  start accepting the indigenous goods and products . this all known as Swadeshi movement. In 1905 chairman of congress Gopal k Gokhle give call for Swaraj (means self-governmentin Varanasi Session of Indian National Congress.

Effects of Swadeshi movement on Indian society.

In 1906 Dadabhai Naoroji , also known as the Grand Old Man of India given a speech in his Calcutta  session where he actually derive the means of swaraj, and he said in his speech that congress have an aim to make a government in  India  like in Britain and its other colonies, which sound so obvious because movement was actually very successful.

Now here was another discussion was going on between congress that what is the best way to continue this movement , some leaders(like Gopal K Gokhale ) was arguing about a peaceful & petition type of movement and some(like Bal Gangadhar Tilak ) was arguing about making this movement revolutionary & extremists , from here signs of divide being felt  in congress also which take place in 1907. Now extremists way of congress is becoming stronger because of rage and indignation in the people.

The more successful way of this boycott movement was the boycotting of  foreign goods specially clothes. one more cause was behind this was Indian textile industry was collapsed due to foreign clothes. they was burning  foreign clothes and foreign good in all over the Bengal and other Indian state like  Madras and Bombay presidency and the whole thinking behind that was if no one buy and use foreign goods so British have to go from India, which is not quite logical because at this movement British have a very good holding and they disperse the agitator by using an iron hand. and using iron hand make it more and more extremist.

The leaders of Swaraj and boycott movement want to make people more independent and more reliable for future and they given a battle cry to every Indian to be Self Reliable and Self Powered. it give a move to the normal Indian to come in the first row for Swaraj by using Volunteer origination like Swadesh Bandhav Samiti in Bengal. the leaders of national movement also started the institutions for technical and art education which can make contact of nationalist thinking in next generation.

we can say that it was the real start of the nationalist movement of  India, and it was so special because first time in the history of national movement the farmers and women’s participation happened in this large volume. this movement also effected the Indian society and its intellectual  category to restart thinking about orientalist art and culture of India.

So What Went Wrong and why Indian Muslims was chopped out ?

The big failure of this movement was that they had failed to mainstream the indian muslims. because this was the time where Agricultural Muslims was not came in contact with the nationalist thinking in place of that they was moving to pan Islamic thinking as Britishers also want, this make the whole national movement weaken. one more thing about this when the swaraj movement was at its prosperity the Indian Muslim League was founded , 30 December 1906 at Dacca (Dakha).Which threw off the whole Muslims from swaraj and boycott movement. one more cause was that the circumstances and the leadership of this movement was somehow connected with Hinduism and Britishers had managed to convince Indian Muslims that it is not in your favour of Muslims in both religious &  in beneficial way and the fundamentalist power were very successful to represent it as a very falsely appearing movement which was the cause of major riots in Calcutta & dacca.

Result of its Impact on future ?

We can’t say that this movement had failed because this movement introduced nationalism to whom who was totally conversant with nationalism , swaraj created a new ground for future movement because this movement was a Source of Inspiration for the next generation and its political thinking. and we can say the swaraj and boycott aandolan Lived, and died of his age & also plotted a ground for violent revolutionary movement for whom ,Who were without leadership at that time.

And big thing this was a Suffering experience for British government in Bengal and all over the India, because Britishers was the cause of the going on riots in Bengal.

From Nalanda to New Education policy of the Republic of India – part 1

Before trying to understand what is the education we first have to understand about literacy. Literacy is an ability of any individual to read and write something in different forms but education differs because anyone should be literate or have a very good and scientific form of expression of some basics while when you are well learned you know about to approbation and disapprobation on some issue and you should know about institutional instruction of “School & Colleges”.

In a very simple way ,

indian-1119233_1280

A normal school in India.(pixabay.com)

knowing a country as India is literacy while knowing India’s the actually Republic of India is education. it means education is all about researching the nature of anything or any society and try to make a record or a path or a theory on which basis we can make a perspective about something.

So we are going to discuss the formal education system of India.

Vedic Education – Vedic education is the reflection of the older Vedic culture where a student was thinking about his life and his afterlife. the language of education was Sanskrit and the basis of school education was gurukul where anyone can learn after learning grammar known as vyakaran.guru teaches you basics of education  which are known as up Nisa Diya Shiksha where you learn directly from a guru. this was all the hostel education system . after this step you come with contact of another guru known as acharya.acharya  was well-learned teachers and they were master of something  who teaches the student about life and about dharma . dharma was the centre of life and education so here is limitation also about whom was acharya want to teach or not. everyone knows about the famous story  of Eklavya and drone acharya. one very good thing which is missing in this education that the student was free to do discussions and argument with the teachers like after this story of Eka lav ya and drone acharya there is a famous discussion between them. After school education student was free to follow an acharya or a school of philosophy  or follow your profession.

Why is Nalanda important ?

The first university of the world established in 700 bc in  Takshshila known as Nalanda , Nalanda was the biggest university at that time in India but internationally known at that time because Nalanda has the students from Cambodia, turkey, japan, china and Tibet . it was also a maha vihara ( a Buddhist monastery ) following the learning technique of Vedic education and the level of subject and argument become more and bigger. writing on the paper was invented which makes easy documentation of knowledge and it makes easy to access to the students of Nalanda.all kings and social orders given them their patronage until it was totally destroyed by bakhtiyar khilji in 1193 and all the manuscript burned.  The subjects were taught was science, astronomy, tattva,mi mansa, mathematics, philosophy and others with great teachers like shrushut, aryabhatta, bhaskaracharya and patanjali.

Then under the Islamic regime, a lot of madrasas (over 200 years ago) was established for teachings of  Quran and continue with the history of India and give a lot of support to Urdu language and Urdu literature.

Education in British India?

After when English education was established in most part of India in 1835 by Macaulay for manufacturing of interpreters between British and Indians. But it has done something above what McCauley want Indians adopted English education which opens the way to learn new science and thoughts it makes to understand the importance of social reform. this was also the time of industrial revolution in the world how India can be untouched to it the first technical institute was established 1847 in Thompson’s Engg. College, Roorkee  was nowadays known as IIT Roorkee and first medical college was established in Kolkata in 1833.A Lot of technical institutes and other schools was established in India up to the freedom. people like Ram Mohan Rai ,Madan Mohan Malviya , Mahatma Gandhi , Gopal Krishna Gokhale worked a lot for education.

Education system after independence?

the gov passed a lot of education policies after independence in 1992 s national education policy affected the whole education system. in 2009 according to the right to education (RTE -2009),  every child from 6 to 14 years have the right to get the free basic education in nearby school under the article 21 of Indian constitution.

New education policy (recommended) 2016 – a new report by the T.S.R. Subramanian committee for new education policy some of the important points are here,

Manual Scavenging

If you are don’t know what is Manual scavenging try to remember that forgotten days when people was using Public & Personal Dry Toilets which was used  by everyone except some wealthy families may be you also know that woman who was cleaning it manually by her own hand it is Manual scavenging. Manual Scavenging is a stigma on the face of  developing  India because it’s not only related with human society but also with individual’s human dignity. ask a question to yourself why someone clean you human waste for a small amount of money which was not granted & and you are playing not only with his household and also with his human dignity. A lot of families feeling himself humiliated and wretched because there family members working as swabber or cleaner in our society because this manual scavenging exist in different form in different places of the world like in india its maila dhona and pit emptying in other places of the world.

In all over the globe manual scavenging is a problem somewhere as carrying human excreta , in other places as pickup the of dead organisms without any protection, but here we are limiting our self with  in india.

SO what is the manual scavenging ?

Manual scavenging is a traditional occupation in which a small section of any society or human group specially schedule caste clean human waste by their hand and carry on their heads. It is not only a social injustice but it is also an inhuman act which can not be consider as a task of social work. According to the (^1 ) THE PROHIBITION OF EMPLOYMENT AS MANUAL SCAVENGERS AND THEIR REHABILITATION ACT, 2013Any human who is included of cleaning Human excreta by hand,To haul and tossing it in any place by any method, or involved into carrying this human waste”  it is not only a process of scavenging waste it is also a process of  limiting the human rights for those who are involved in this type of activity because they will face a new challenge where they are not going to get another type of work or occupation.

A woman sweeper in india (^image source)

So where from manual scavenging start?

We can easily say it have a very long history not only as human history but also as toilets Construction history in civil engineering which can be a very good topic for discussion. may be specific type of  dry toilets was constructed before thousands years ago and the depressed classes were forced to do manual scavenging. so what was the history no one actually knows but thanks to Gandhi, in 1917 gandhi opposed the process of manual scavenging in his own way in Sabarmati Ashram where everyone should clean his own excreta or waste. so it start from somewhere and it have no end until it stop.it is the problem which exist in every caste and religion of india. and the people who force anyone for do this or included in this area from every religion. so sad!

is it a big problem ?

yes! it is a big problem not only with viewpoint of human dignity but also with the socio economic condition of society.

here are some points –

  1. If you think this is the problem of villages and small cities so you are wrong because if in every village here are a small family of 3 or 4 members is involved in manual scavenging so here are more than 60000 villages.
  2. This class of society will not get any other job or not do another occupation it means they will continue begging for food and they will be poor for their all life.
  3. Manual scavenging supports the untouchability , caste discrimination, class & gender discrimination , child labour and bonded labour in a way.
  4. It is also a big problem because after 1993 to 2014 a lot of Schemes for these people and their relatives  was failed and a large amount of money of taxpayers has been swayed, so it means it is affecting our economy.

What are its effects in our society?

The people who involved in manual scavenging are a part of our own society and this is not cleaning process or a swachata abhiyan  it is a totally inhuman practice and forcing someone to do this is very cruel.

  1. Effects on human health –  cleaning toilets with there own hand is  the cause of different diseases and illnesses like hepatitis, asthma and other skin diseases. mostly women and children  are involved in manual scavenging  and if they face these malady here are very less chances that they will recover because of lack of money and due to poverty. primary resources of their food are what they collect by begging and definitely no one will give then good food so they get stale food which have fungus & unhealthy food.
  2. Effect on women’s dignity – these women and  girl childs are facing verbal & physical abuse as well as sexual molestation by those who believes on “untouchability ” as well as  own life partner. most of these women are depressed and pensive, because what they earn that goes on their husbands liqueur. These class of woman have no self respect no way to express or to get education.
  3. Effect on children’s life – in a lot of cases of manual scavenging in india mostly in north indian states childrens are not going to school because of class and work discrimination because they or their parents are doing this inhuman practice.Mostly they are dalits and from the depressed classes known as bhangi or valmiki so they are facing  a different level of discrimination where they have separate plate for food and separate glass for water. This activity increases the hatred between children’s which  become too much malice when they become young.
  4. Other social problems  everyone who is doing this work think that what i do that is my destiny or my bad luck , which actually eliminating their spirit of life and they become superstitious. as we discussed earlier manual scavenging supports the untouchability , caste discrimination, class & gender discrimination , child labour and bonded labour also. if these women stop carrying human excreta or man stop cleaning sewer there are a large chances of there social , economics and religious bycaught by others .

What government is doing ?

before discussing what government is doing we should discuss first what government has done so far ?

All committees which had been established by government after independence they suggested to eliminate the manual scavenging from 1948  to 1968 but after a long time a law was created as (^2 )THE EMPLOYMENT OF MANUAL SCAVENGERS AND CONSTRUCTION OF DRY LATRINES (PROHIBITION) ACT, 1993 , which was prohibited the Construction of the dry latrines and was aimed to stop the manual scavenging. the definition of manual scavenging was changed in 2013 but the situation of  manual scavenger has not improved until today. yes the violations of law could result jail or a fine of  50,000 rupee or both to the person or group who are involved to force it again on someone’s head.

You can easily understand before 2014 there was every thing on papers only, because if you see clearly a number of employes are working for this under government agencies like indian railway, municipal, nagar panchayat and nagar nigam.that why it is a big issue not only for government as well as for the people .

So what nowadays happening and what you\we can do for them ?

  1. Government are against open defecation so the government encouraging for the construction of (^3)Low Cost Sanitation by motivation and as well as economic help.
  2. Cleaning of seaver by using new cleaning technique is one of the best way.
  3. Providing economic help to the people who are ore was involved in this inhuman practice.
  4. Government and private banks are providing them (^4)loan under rehabilitation program of government, but how these poor people can return their loan it’s a another topic for discussion and why a bank will give them loan who knows that the borrower have nothing to return.
  5. The childrens who are affected by it should get equal status in school and they should get government and social aid so they don’t quit their studies.
  6. The industrial training and social programs for their better future should be provided them easily by government and other organizations (^5). railways changed their sanitation technic and start making a new style of tank for trains in indian railways.
  7. Any social organization can teach them driving and automobile maintenance, self defence to women and children’s and other different thing. government and social organization should continue to do research(^6) and try to stop this.
  8. You can help their childrens to do study and to make them economically good.
  9. You can help that social organizations to wipeout this , and try to get their help because this section are very very economically and technically depressed.
  10. You can teach their woman’s internet and other stuff if not so you can make a toilet at least.
  11. You can stop the people who are forcing to do it and at least try to change the thinking of people who are telling it “spiritual experience for valmiki’s” and so on.

This is not only the fight of manual scavengers or government, this is our fight our revolution to save someone’s dignity to save someone’s social life and our society.

Who can help you?

Importance of Harijan Movement of Mahatma Gandhi.

The announcement of the Communal Award in August 1932 was another example of ‘Divide & Rule’ policy , it’s a Separate Electoral Award policy which means a muslim can only vote muslims, hindus vote hindu & sikhs vote sikhs. the award assigned to the sikhs, muslims, christians and dalits (scheduled castes), as they have a number of seat in every legislature  on the basis of Separate Electoral.

Congress was against separate electoral because congress knows that it increases separatism and communalism ,which was not good for indian national & freedom movement. this award affect  the sentiments of a lot of hindu population, who was dalit. because it was  the scheme to separate dalit from other hindus, every nationalist leader was against it. One more thing was that it makes an untouchable (dalit) always untouchable. another thing that was suggested that we can increases the number of seats  in legislature by the  Adult franchise system ,so  on 20 september 1932 all the mandir, wells, gurudwaras and lands was opened for all the dalit society, at same day gandhi started his Fasting against Communal award.at last an agreement was signed between BR Ambedkar and  mahatma gandhi in puna (1932) known as puna pact. so in Provincial Legislature dalit seats was increased to 147 from 71 and in Central Legislature this was increased to 18 percent.

So where from Harijan Andolan start ?

The word Harijan which means hari ka jan , the man of god was given by gandhi in 1933 to dalit and all other depressed classes after puna pact gandhi decided for an Untouchable prevention movement , he was always against untouchability ,in 1933 he started a movement against it. He was in fasting in july and august against untouchability  and  from 7 november 1933 he started traveling all over the india from Wardha Ashram to fight against untouchability and for a social demand of socioeconomic and political support to dalits by fellow indians and government. His movement was known as ”Harijan Yatra”. which was a long Journey which takes 9 month. Gandhi faced a lot of trouble by  reactionary forces they also bombed a car against the The Temple Entry Bill . the The Temple Entry Bill was not passed in parliament in 1934 because of dishonest forces.

What was the effect of Harijan Andolan to the society ?

This movement affected both harijans and others life these are some examples.

  1. Practicing any type of untouchability stopped constitutionally after independence, it became also a crime against anyone under the THE PROTECTION OF CIVIL RIGHTS ACT, 1955some schedule also passed before and after independence.
  2. The harijan andolan was not fully successful but it start destroying and start attacking on caste system by which a more united india become possible, this is the effect of this andolan by which any hindu can enter in any temple, and anyone can  stop anyone to do any type of partiality on the basis of caste.
  3. Harijan become more in contact with National Freedom Movement.
  4. They get their rights in constitution as well as women also.
  5. The congressman and other get the option that what to do if the a National Movement is weak, they can do a lot for making it more strong.

 Literature & Freedom.

Undoubtedly Indian National Movement was one of the biggest movement for freedom modern world ever seen. The medium of communication and representation was the poems ,slogans, folk songs & music , not only with the people who was illiterate but also with the people who want to join you. It have more importance when you have to spread your thoughts with the people of larger geographical expansion .

The role of music, songs, slogans and other literature in any revolution that they sharp  the idea and strategy of any revolution and national movement. This may be in form of political slogans, patriotic song or essay, but this concept was not new for india and its people ,who was living in different geographical locations in india during the bhakti movement. The literature promotes the revolutionary thinking and after every revolution a change in society and it’s vision promote the literature. So in case of india there was a rich literature but mostly in form of  poems and hymns because it is a rhythmic literature.

So dissatisfaction in indian minds was start from bengal begun with the Battle of Plassey 1757 , and company rule.During 1763 to 1856 more than 40  big outbreak happened and the smaller are uncountable. Then the first mutiny of 1857 happened ,the revolutionary controlled the Delhi and make Bahadur shah as the emperor of india.but soon the Delhi gone back to the control of british and the waistline of revolutionary movement rupture in 1858 and india become under british imperialism &.it fails as revolution but it makes a path for the Nationalist Movement The first slogan against the company rule was jo rakshak wahi bhakshak. after 1857 a lot of  uprising happened and the dissatisfaction start growing and this dissatisfaction guided the Tribal Revolt, Farmers Revolts. The first success was in form of Indigo Movement start from 1857 in bengal company put pressure on farmers to cultivate the indigo and in 1860 they successfully stopped the farming of indigo after fighting with the goons of company.a english weekly shows very important role during this period known as  Hindoo Patriot, which have extremely important role to expose and criticize the perforce cultivation of indigo. Another major role played by Dinabandhu Mitra’s play Neel Darpan in 1859 which was in Bangla and  it work as last nail thump on indigo farming in bengal. This was the role of a magazine and a play but another important thing  was what we can see a unity between elite educated class, farmers and workers after 1857.Hindi poetry begun with the Bharatendu Harishchandra and come in it’s new age ,his Bharat Durdasha (1875) play tells about the dissatisfaction in people, and how british destroyed India. His another play Andher Nagri tells about the stupid kings of India.

Vande Mataram is the national song of India. [Link – Shemaroo]

Now everything Start with Vande Mataram (वन्दे मातरम्) a song by Bankim chandra chatterjee  in his book Anandamath  (1882) ,which have a giant importance in the freedom and nationalist movement of India but it playas more importance because at 1880 british force to sing God Save The Queen in every office and bankim was himself an officer decline it. vande mataram have an important role in the Congress Meetings and known as call of freedom and a slogan for motherland .The first political occasion when it was sung was the 1896 session of the Indian National Congress. After that in 1906, Dadabhai Nauroji  Call for a slogan “Swaraj” in 1906 just after the partition of bengal in 1905. “Swaraj” (स्वराज)slogan become close to every one and after some time congress demanded for “Purna Swaraj” (पूर्ण स्वराज) in 26 january 1929 in lahore (now days pakistan) by congress president Jawaharlal Nehru.

Ekla Cholo Re a song and written by guru ravindranath tagore was released  and it provided voice to all the people who want to serve motherland and they have no support no answer, so this song guided to walk alone not to afraid. After 1908 a young revolutionary from bengal Khudiram Bose (18)was hanged by british a young man died and a song was written and composed by a Bengali poet Pitambar Das the song was Ek Baar biday de ma ghure ashi (एकबार बिदाई दे माँ घुरे अशी). All Bengali community and other indian community (deshwasi) sheds there eyes and youth of bengal become more struggling against british in bengal.you can lision this song in a bengali movie Shubhash chardra in lata mangeskars voice.

Now The tone of the revolution spread everywhere in india in Maratha Desh a marathi poem Sagara Pran Talmalala and Sare Jahan se Accha Hindustan hamara   (1904) (सारे जहाँ से अच्छा हिन्दोसिताँ हमारा) plays its important role in freedom struggle, mahatma gandhi sung it in yerwada jail hundred of times and after independence when rakesh sharma replied ex p.m indira gandhi’s question – How india look from space? and his reply was – Sare Jahan se Accha Hindustan hamara. This was the Impression of music, songs and poems on indian minds.

Sqn Ldr Rakesh Sharma held a television news conference with Prime Minister Indira Gandhi from Space .when Indira Gandhi asked him how India looked from outer space His famous reply, borrowed from Allama Iqbal, was, ‘ Saare Jahan Se Achcha, (better than the whole world).’ [Thanks to – ISRO Mangalyaan]

Sardar Ajit Singh was the leader of Pagdi Sambhal Jatta movement till 1907 and the song become very popular from movie The Legend of Bhagat Singh (it is edited but have same feel). Ajit singh was uncle of Sardar Bhagat singh. Mai rang de basanti chola was related to bhagat singh as well, this song was on everyone’s lips during freedom struggle.

An patriotic urdu poetry was related with the Ram Prashad bismil , sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai dekhna hai zor kitna baazu -e- qaatil mein hai which become extra -ordinary  for those revolutionaries who want to free india with the help of bullet ant ballet.Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad was these type of revolutionaries. They shouted the slogans like Inquilab Zindabad , Bhagat singh and his other friends killed saunders  who passed the orders of lathicharge on Lala Lajpat Rai in 1928 during Protest against Simon Commission.

“SARFAROSHI KI TAMANNA AB HAMAARE DIL MEIN HAI, DEKHNA HAI ZOR KITNA BAAZU E KAATIL MEIN HAI.

WAQT AANAY DEY BATA DENGE TUJHE AYE AASMAN, HUM ABHI SE KYA BATAYE KYA HAMARE DIL MEIN HAI.”

A lot of poets and their poetry if you start giving there are no end but i am limiting myself to some outstanding work.

Adi Sankaracharya

Jagatguru Sankaracharya (आदि शंकराचार्य)  born as sankar in 788 CE (845 vikrama samnvat) in kaldi village in malabar  (now days kerala in india) in nambudari tribe of bramhins . his father shivguru and mother was arayamba who was also involved in bhakti of shiv with his father whole life .

when sankar was  at  three , his father died and his family start facing the economic problems. then he fought with it and he aimed to become a sanyasi when he was at eight. but her mother didn’t want  that sankar will become a sanyasi but after some time sankar got the permission from arayamba . Then he starated searching for a guru. There is a story (when he was at seven) also why he become sanyasi ,In a temple a debate going on between a bramhin and a Buddhist monk .

Monk – when someone moving physically if this boy (sankara) is there he is there and if he is here then he is here.nothing like mana.

Balak (sankara) – No i am moving anywhere my heart is in the feet of goddess and my mana in here so what is the impotence of moving physically.

Bramhin – he is right.

Then he start practicing of dhayana  {meditation} (ध्यान) and  he become great in dhayana but his search for a guru was continue and he decided to take guru-diksha from a yogi gurupad, who was a great yogi and he was doing sadhana (साधना)in a cave in  onkareswara in Narmadakhand (now days in madhya pradesh in india)  then sankara came from kerala to onkareswara after crossing rivers and mountains, jangle and taken guru-dakshina from him . he he started the study of veda and then vedanta. vedanta is the soul of now days Hinduism , because it was actually a vedik religion . then he become an expert in vedanta.

he started favor of adwait(अद्वैत ) (non-dualism) vedanta. he was participated in a  big ( dhrma sabha) religious meeting in kashi (now days Varanasi) ,and he got a chance to spread the real idea of vedanta (वेदांत). The old vedik Hinduism want a charge of philosophy  because it was the time of fall of Buddhism and superstitions and tantric worship.it was the time where animal sacrifices become popular which was against to the philosophy of upnishada’s (upnishada is the text of vedanta). in kashi he started the worship of shiv and he started the publicity of pure vedik religion (snatana)  and he succeed because a lot of people was confused with the philosophy of nihilism (sunyawad) and a lot of people thinking that here is something which exist before , with and after us. a class followers of Buddhism was also philosophically misguided or don’t understand what Buddhism is actually. It was also the time of cultural turncoat (transitional period) the country was facing the political instability which affected the religion (because in India it is mostly interrelated).

Now the sankarcharya got a new way to pramoat the idea of vedanta . he goes place to place in all over the india and invite the scholar , pundit and  monks (Buddhist) for debate. and he replies very physiologically and in the way of philosophy and beat them all . this is why Sankarachrya is important in now days Hinduism and also in philosophy of Hinduism and other philosophy  which is related to non-dualism.

And his debate with mandana misra was the best example of how he was defeated  because mandan misra was the one of the best example of  the genius minds in central India . and mandan misra become his follower (his sishya) . but the story was he want to meet with kumarilbhat the guru of mandan mishra  , kumarilbhat was going to relinquish his body  and he orders to debate with mandan mishra. after some time mandan mishra become sureshwarachrya.

He traveled whole India from kashmir to aasam to south (he was from south in keral) in karnatak , gujarat in central west , oddisha in central east and uttarakhand  (now days). in these days a story happens that  sankarchrya was travelling from place to place and in a town on the road a chandala {चांडाल} , (a hangman which is very untouchable man) was coming and all the bramhins start deviating from the front  of him but sankarachrya tells him to digress from front of sankarachrya.  and this is the best argument from where the sankarachrya start demolishing the untouchability.

Sankaracharya– move from alley.

Chandala – Whome you are telling to move, me as a body or ataman (bramhan). because if you are telling to move to atman , then you don’t know bramhan follows no one’s order. and the body have no value in real world.

srankarcharya replies – i don’t know who you are bramhin or chandala but now i know one thing you given me gyana so u are my guru. he touched the feet of chandala and both gone away.

He work for the emancipation of four matha ( four institute)  and his shishya’s was the first head of mathas and  also twelve Jyotirlinga. sankaracharya started Kumbh Festival in every  Twelve Year in Nasik ,Prayag and Haridwar.
